Christmas 2020 might involve more tiers than a multi-storey German onion cake, but we’re still determined to make the most of a festive season that will undoubtedly be a big bit weird, but hopefully a little bit wonderful too!

🥊 Snoop Dogg – undisputed wisecrack champ
The recent Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr exhibition fight was more of a cuddle-fest than a Christmas cracker, but rapper Snoop Dogg won the internet with his commentary comparing the veterans to ‘two uncles fighting at a barbecue’ and singing gospel when YouTuber Jake Paul KO’d Nate Robinson on the undercard.

👑 Checkmate! The Queen’s Gambit smashes Netflix streaming record
New Netflix coming-of-age drama The Queen’s Gambit has just become the streaming platform’s biggest limited series ever, viewed by a whopping 62 million households during its first 28 days. The fictional miniseries follows the rollercoaster fortunes of chess prodigy Beth Harmon (Anya Taylor-Joy) and even if you’re not a chess fan you’ll love it if you appreciate tales of redemption, rock and roll rebellion, fierce female attitudes and swinging 60s fashion.
💙 Care home couple reunited – try not to cry!
Dementia sufferer Ken Meredith and his devoted wife of 71 years Betty were cruelly separated for five weeks by Covid-19 restrictions, but after a mammoth effort by care home staff at Birmingham’s Bourn View Care Home and Betty self-isolating for two weeks, she joined hubby in his care home – forever. Yup: something’s gotten in our eyes too!

Best Christmas tune we’ve found so far in 2020 you ask? It’s got to be Hey Duggee’s version of jingle bells.
