How are you all this fine Friday?
Full of the joys of spring, occupying the ‘meh’ zone in-between or totally puggled?
We’ve fluctuated between pensive and positive at Maratopia Towers this week, with everything crossed for easing lockdowns.
Hang out with us in this week’s fiver – we’ve got Dutch ravers, charity clowns, lockdown anniversary tunes, TOV advice and brilliant brand guides.
🕺 Masked ravers
We’re just catching up with news that an experimental Covid-19 rave was recently held in the Dam.
And they didn’t even invite our CEO – a demon with a set of glow sticks!
We’ll wait for the official results, but let’s hope that the Netherlands Govt has found a safe way for us to get together and feel alright.
🤡 Clowning for charity
Clowns Without Borders is an award-winning charity which (pre-pandemic) travelled around the world’s disaster areas, conflict zones and refugee camps, using laughter to provide respite and hope to some of the world’s most vulnerable children.
Travel restrictions have put paid to their physical clowning, but they’ve been polishing their tech skills to keep everyone smiling online.
😷 UK lockdown anniversary
The one year anniversary of the UK Covid-19 lockdown passed this week. Thanks to the NHS, vaccines and everyone pulling together, there seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel.
Comic Relief marked the occasion with a video that made us cry and smile.
🤐 Talk like the animals
Tone of voice is sometimes tricky to get your head around when it comes to brand copy.
But our friends over at Yarn have written a cracking article explaining why the Animal Crossings: New Horizons video game is an awesome, accessible TOV masterclass.
👔 Branding or blanding?
Another ‘new to us’ discovery this week is the hilarious Bland Book by brand gurus Vikki Ross and Paul Mellor.
If you want a terrific, tongue-in-cheek guide on how not to differentiate your brand, it’s a must-see!
