When their ‘adopt a grandparent’ scheme launched to provide virtual company via video link to their 800 care home residents, CHD Living had 72,000 people sign up in three weeks. Now the care residence group plans to launch a dedicated app for the scheme by June.

With the rise of apps like Zoom and Houseparty enabling people to stay connected via video during lockdown, it was inevitable that more internet giants would get on board. And not to be outdone, Facebook has launched Messenger Rooms, its own group video service.
