📹 Legendary Viral Video Goes To Auction
This week the news emerged that the one of YouTube’s earliest viral hits, ‘Charlie Bit My Finger’, is to be auctioned as an NFT – a digital nugget of internet history preserved by a private collector. Once sold, the video will be removed from YouTube forever, although of course, this classic can never be removed from the web for good.
👚 Shein Overtakes Amazon Downloads
Fast fashion app Shein has seen a meteoric rise thanks to social media word of mouth. And as of May 11th, this sleeper hit in the ecommerce realm has become the most installed app on iOS and Android in the US, taking the top spot from Amazon.
🤖 Google AI Spots Skin Conditions
Is there anything Google can’t do? This is simply the latest in a long line of ingenious inventions from the digital giant – an AI that can detect skin conditions from user’s images. It’s one of the company’s many major announcements from its Google I/O developer conference earlier this week, and supposedly the feature will be available by the end of the year.
🎤 Spotify Virtual Concerts
It won’t be long until gigs are back on the menu. But in the meantime, Spotify is quenching the musical thirst of its listeners with a series of virtual concerts taking place between May and June. Artists set to perform include the Black Keys, Rag’n Bone Man and Girl in Red, and tickets cost $15 (about £10) for each.
❤️ Friends Reunion To Air
So no one told us life was gonna be this way… but what they did tell us is that the special reunion episode of hit 90s sitcom Friends lands on HBO next Thursday! ‘The One Where They Get Back Together’ will see the cast reunite to relive their favourite moments from the series (with a few special guests) and is expected to air in the UK next Friday, although that’s yet to be confirmed.
